Grainne & Paddy

Paddy and I purchased Desmond Townhouse in October 2017. We both decided on a lifestyle change from bustling busy city life to a more peaceful and enjoyable one so the beautiful fishing port of Kinsale was the decider.

My father Jeremiah (Gerry) Barnett was a Schull native, Paddy’s Mom Kay owned and ran a Georgian B&B in the heart of Dublin city plus my absolute love of Georgian houses therefore, Desmond House was the perfect fit for both of us.

Desmond Townhouse was already home to visiting Americans so we had a base to build and improve on and we did. We loved our American visitors and to this day many remain friends whilst others revisit or recommend Desmond Townhouse regularly. Our aim is to meet and exceed peoples expectations and everyone who stays with us we ensure they experience Irish hospitality at its best.

Only 2 years in at Desmond  Townhouse, we were voted 3 Best B&B in Ireland by TripAdvisor Travellers Choice and to this day are still No 1 in Kinsale
